Outside of the office, David plays softball and poker as a "competitive-recreational" player in both, competing in tournaments and local league play. And he enjoys adventure travel and outdoor activities such as hiking and visiting National parks -- David has bungee jumped, skydived, scuba-dived the Great Barrier Reef, climbed Ayers Rock (when it was once allowed), rode a mule to the bottom of the Grand Canyon, scalped tickets to a championship soccer (futbol) game in Madrid, and travelled cross-country exploring both obscure and famous sites and places. David is always looking for the next adventure. He lives with his husband Mark and their dog, Max, and cat, Mia, in Lake Las Vegas, Henderson, Nevada. Originally from Vermont, David has called several places home, from Las Vegas and San Diego to Philadelphia, Northern Virginia and Washington, D.C.

Russ has an extensive list of relevant diligence, sell-side, and growth strategy project experience. As a former CEO focused on bottom line performance, Russ helps ensure that Birch delivers fact-based, actionable results.
Russ’ background includes progressively challenging turn-around assignments for Fortune 500 companies, including RJR Nabisco, L’Oreal, and the Gillette Company.
Russ was also Managing Director of Atlantic Capital, an M&A boutique in Brazil that focused on cross-border company transactions. And as the CEO tasked by a leading private equity firm, he transformed an unprofitable retail artisan bakery into a world-class branded food company.
Russ has an undergraduate degree in Physics and received his MBA from the Harvard Business School.
Outside of the professional environment, Russ is an avid diver and underwater photographer, does pro-bono consulting for minority-owned businesses, and is a volunteer and board member at a local not-for-profit focused on food insecurity.
Russ speaks three languages and has extensive international operating experience in Puerto Rico, Brazil, Japan, Malaysia, Switzerland, and Eastern Europe.
